This weekend has not been too productive, however I did find this lovely Mabel Lucie Atwell print in an old oak frame, the colour is not true, the ground is a dirty faded cream, the print is foxed but I think that it makes it more appealing.
This afternoon we went to a very rare event in these parts, a jumble sale (Sunday as well) !
Years ago Mum and I used to trawl them and find many lovely things, however it is very difficult to find genuine old things nowadays, but I came a way with an old hunting waistcoat and a pair of oyster coloured satin single eiderdowns.
So you survived it then! I nearly had a heart attack at how rough people are at jumble sales - it was like a game of rugby!!
ReplyDeleteI am going to make a point of finding all the little village jumble sales round here this year ... you just never know what you might find ! Better start practising my defence tactics for all those elbows. x
ReplyDeleteWell, you know where to come in March for a genuine Jumble sale full of vintage goodies!
ReplyDeleteGood finds ....jumble sales (we call them rummage sales) are becoming scarce now.... apparently there is a shortage of volunteers
ReplyDeleteAaah - that print just about sums up our granddaughter and her new baby brother! Though I hear that she could tempted to accidentally 'drop' him... As for jumble sales, they seem to have disappeared round here.Cx
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a jumble sale for years i dont think they do them here any more unless i just dont hear about them.I love that old print its very cute. Enjoy your week, dee x
ReplyDeleteWhat a find Tracey....good for you. I am rather obsessed with MLA, so I am very pleased for you to find such a treasure.
ReplyDeleteYes, jumble sales....I spent most of my weekends at them when I was young. I remember buying a pair of bright yellow clogs in the Seventies and thought I was so cool....stomping around in my short mini skirt pretending to be the blonde one from ABBA! Happy days....

Hi there! I'm holding a vintage fair myself at Stourhead Gardens in Wiltshire on the 3rd July, and I'm looking for stallholders to promote and sell their vintage wears! I found out about you from "Vintage at the Village Hall". Would you be interested in holding a stall?...the event is set to be a huge success, and is the perfect location especially during the summer months! We are also going to be raising money with a vintage fashion and burlesque show for CLIC SARGENT so it will be really worthwhile. please contact me on vintage_vultures if you are interested and want further info. Thanks! Kitty xx
ReplyDeleteapologies my email address is vintage_vultures@yahoo.co.uk if your interested!
ReplyDeleteHi Tracey,
ReplyDeleteThis is a bit of a shot in the dark! - Did you sell this print? I've been searching half heartedly for my Aunty for some time.
Thanks,
Jo
