dresses to impress

Obviously I was not destined to go to London at the weekend for a reason, this was it!
I happened across a pile of vintage dresses and fabrics

LIberty fabrics?

Fantastic early 20thC Sanderson faded curtains
I think that this fabric is Liberty, could the bird one be Celia Birtwell?
gorgeous Horrocks
beautiful stripes & florals (Horrocks on right)

maxi dresses

a large Liberty wool square

a length of polka dot silk

all I have to do now is price them up, which will be interesting!
They will all be coming to Malvern on Monday.

Thought for today......

I think that perhaps we all travel for days out or holidays and act like tourists taking in the history and beauty of places away from home and blogging about them.
Today we were supposed to be in London doing just that, however we couldn't go, Liberty & Anthropologie will have to wait for me again!, so I decided that I would go to our local Church and tidy the grave of Lloyd's Mum, Anne. I hadn't realised how long it has been since I last went, I am ashamed to say that it must be about 5 years, and she is only up the road.
I planted some pansies and chatted to her and when I had finished I thought that I would have a look around.
The trees looked beautiful in the strong sunshine, and were very shady underneath

Some of the much older monuments had beautiful carving

We are very close to Evesham Abbey and I believe that their must be a lot of connected history, I am unable to tell any as I embarassingly do not know!

However I had a lovely hour listening to the birds and wandering under the cool tree canopy.
I hope that some of you have been able to do the same and enjoy the day?
I am now back to the cooking/cleaning/washing/labelling & my Mum is starching linen ready for Malvern next weekend.

Tuesday.

As my camera is currently in New York, here is a quick blog for today.
This is a family shot of us with Lloyd and Nicola before they went off to see Nicola's daughter and grandson and to attend Jo's wedding, I think that it was last Saturday so they should have had a lovely day.
Unfortunatly we won't see each other en masse for a while, however Tom is flying out to visit with Gran in the summer holidays and he is staying out there to get some pheasant rearing, logging, shooting, driving experience before he goes off to Sparsholt College in September.
I am currently trying to juggle my diary and raise the finance so that Michael & I can go and visit before the end of October when it will get too cold.
In our efforts, we did our first Shepton flea market on Sunday, due to the weather I managed to get an inside stand on the balcony, we were pleased with the outcome and have booked the next one, however the day before is our Cotswold vintage fair, then Shepton & on Monday Malvern, it is a good job that I have Michael as I wouldn't be able to manage.
I was so surprised that this lovely towelling jacket did not sell, however a lot of my new stock went so I have this week to try and replenish with more interesting items, it's not easy today I travelled a round trip of 30 miles and bought one piece of fabric and some ribbons, yesterday I mooched around our local town and found a pinny!
I thought that I might nip over to a nearby antiques centre this afternoon, I am waiting for Mum to come back so that we can go up North for a good buying trip, maybe next week.
I have just read Sal's Snippets and must say I am very jealous that she can just pop to Ashburton, take a look it's lovely.
I hope that you have a more exciting/prosperous day!

New cousins

This lovely young lady is Katie, Miss Worcester 2010, and we didn't know that she lived near us or indeed is our cousin!
She also has a lovely sister Gemma.
We are all hoping to meet up soon, when they have got over the shock of being re-united with their long-lost Dad (see previous) & finding out that they have a family that they never knew about.
Needless to say Tom is over the moon to find out that he has two gorgeous cousins!

A blast from the past!

Mum & I had a massive surprise this morning, Michael called us from the back garden where we were hanging out the washing, in our scruffy clothes, bad hair day etc, etc, "someone to see you"!
Mum screamed " *$%£%£ £$&*%", I rushed out and " Oh my God" & burst into tears - this lovely chap is Mum's (this is where it gets complicated) cousin's son, she spent a lot of time with him when he was a little boy & being an only child he was like a brother to me.
Lloyd now lives many hours away over the Atlantic and is married to Nicola, also local to us here.
Mum hasn't seen them for 12 years, the last time that I saw them was about 6 - 7 years ago when we visited them when Tom was a chorister singing in the Colonies.

Michael kindly rushed to Tom's school om the pretence that he had a doctor's appointment & brought him home for a fantastic surprise,

I can assure you that they are not father & son, although I believe that L does dote on T & vice versa.

Nicola & Mum admiring the family resemblances

Wow what a fantastic way to start the week.

bits 'n' bobs

Just some of the stock that is invading the house at the moment, I have lots of interesting pretty pieces including old boxes, linens, cushions, sewing baskets, straw baskets..... oooh luverly!
