My New Years Day (already)
Yesterday, the 27th December, we left our Christmas lodgings in Somerset and rather than go home our usual way we decided to have a quick stop at the seaside.
Up the M5 to Clevedon, a pretty little seaside town in North Somerset. When Tom was a tiny tot Mum and I used to bring him here to go crab fishing on the slipway, it brought back many happy memories.
To my surprise the Victorian pier that was never accessible then was open for the public to promenade.
Michael paid the fee and we wandered along reading some of the sponsored commemorative brass plaques that had been laid into the planks.
Ohh Saucy!
Florence spied some guerilla crochet, and after a spell looking out into the Severn Estuary/Bristol Channel and across to Wales, we headed off up the motorway to what will be our new home for two months or so, it will not be flooded so we are happy & cosy.
So the reason for my header title is that things are on the turn for us, and my new year has started with a very positive feeling.
One last picture, the lifeboat station at Weston Super Mare, a fabulous construction and hidden away from the beaches so could be missed!!
Today at Station Mill Antiques
I didn’t fancy the soup today, so lemon drizzle & hot choc it was!!
A quick restock, I have taken the Chrissy bling away and added some spring yellow & a bowl of bulbs.
The lantern is an interesting item, it has been made from old photographic plates, held together by a metal frame, it would look fabulous hanging and does have the ability, M was supposed to do this but under the circumstances he didn’t have chance to!!
Lots of lovely galvanised zinc planters in anticipation of SPRING !

A new year at last!
I think that today being the Winter Solstice must mean a new beginning and a turn around in our fortune.
Since November I have been treading water and a number of mishaps have befallen us, however not as terrible as some people have suffered or are suffering, I have found recent times extremely difficult......and it goes on, again this morning we have been flooded out of our temporary home and it doesn't seem that we will have our own space for the 25th, and to be honest I am fed up with imposing ourselves on our good friends.
In the past month or so we have found out how kind our friends are and I would just like to thank them and say that I hope in some way I will be able to repay them in the future.
I hope that you all have a lovely yuletide.

Christmassy??
I am still trying to do a “less is more” look, however I believe that if it isn’t in the unit it ain’t going to sell, so this is the compromise!
I nipped in yesterday and draped some silvery silk fabric in one corner, left a few scented hyacinths, a little bit of bling, beautiful jewel coloured handmade cushions, and a few smalls……here’s hoping that the Cotswolds like my stock!!
Treats for me…
I collected this parcel on Saturday, it was delivered express from Devon…..
I had spotted them on a blog of a previous fair, and thought that they were “me”!
The lovely Samantha made these up as an order for me, I chose the fragrances, orange, cut roses, lavender & sage , from her list and hey presto…….fantastic soya scented candles…..visit her website as she fills all sorts of fantastic containers and offers a refill service.

There is so much to see that this is only a small selection, there are many cabinets of silver, antiquities, jewellery and interesting items.
Lastly, the café is wonderful, today manned by a chirpy young man and lady, rudely I didn’t catch their names,
and of course…….my lunch, goats cheese tart with spicy cranberry chutney & toasted walnuts.
Really worth a visit……..tell the lovely staff that you saw it here!!
