Florence’s exciting days

004

Dressed in her best red satin bow, Florence was eagerly waiting for the customary unwrapping, “is there a parcel for me Mum?”

007

008

Not only a bag of treats from Gran, but also a hamper

009

what a lucky girl!

“What are we doing tomorrow Mum?”

003

“We are going to walk through the woods to the top of a Welsh Mountain Florence”

006

Past the wind damaged trees and galvanised wire, look back to the coast in the distance,

009

onwards old lady, to the top,

Breiddon Hill is an extinct volcanic hill on the border of Shropshire & Powys, at 1199ft. which by definition makes it a mountain. On route to the summit there are ruins of an Iron Age Hill fort, which may have been the site of the last stand of Caractacus, the British chieftan who lead the revolt against the Romans. At the summit is a monument, Admiral Rodney’s Pillar, built by the Gentlemen of Montgomeryshire who supplied the oak wood that was shipped down the Severn to Bristol to where Admiral Rodney's fleet was built.

So not only did Flo have a lovely walk with spectacular views, she learnt some history.

What a lucky girl.

  1. Hope you have all had a lovely Christmas Tracey. Flo certainly was a lucky girl wasn't she and I love the pictures of her looking for her treats in the bag. Enjoy the rest of the break and catch up with you all soon.

  4. What a smiley dog Florence is! Beautiful views...If I was climbing that mountain, I'd have to be singing 'The Court of King Caractacus' now, but what with all the actions and full-throttle voice, I'd probably never reach the summit!
