I am currently unable to buy a 10gb allowance for blogger, they want a monthly fee for uploadiing pictures...which currently as I am not blogging as much (is not expensive), but the principle, is causing me to question if I need to continue with The Vintage Bothy.
I will let you know....
You can still see pictures of Dairy House Antiques at their blog and FB page.

We have been busy at Dairy House today mainly with

"The Weekend Bohemian" and it’s finishing touches, please take a look.

My unit is also now looking

festive with a sprinkling of lights on a zinc “Christmas tree” and wreaths of ivy.

Change is in the air…

dec vb 2012

I have brazenly taken this picture from the advertising of The Vintage Bazaar, who are holding their next fabulous Christmas fair in Frome on Saturday 15th December.

I am sharing my stand this time with my friend Woo, as we have recently launched our joint venture….The Weekend Bohemian.

The Weekend Bohemian loves sumptuous silks, damask, velvet, jewel colours, foxing, time worn metals, crystal, religious iconography, natural, eclectic, decorative and unusual items for the home.

So do come and say hello and let us know what you think of

“The Weekend Bohemian”

Another reason that I purloined the picture is that yesterday we left the cottage that I have been brought up in, and are now living in temporary accommodation until our new home is habitable.

For some years we have known that we needed to move, but have had the end goal of a fantastic barn conversion finished to our own spec at the end of the stressful tunnel.

We have a lot of work that we will be doing ourselves, electric, tiling, painting……but with the current move over I am feeling much more positive about things. I hope to come back to blogging and am now have the energy to look forward to next years new Vintage Bazaar fairs. I am happy at Dairy House Antiques and the top floor is looking fabulous (even though I say it myself).

It is quite amazing how uncertainty unsettles a person….I know that mine is nothing compared to others…..but I am feeling much chirpier.

So from the little static caravan by the river Avon, Flo and I say

“ have a lovely Sunday”

On my travels…..

Russia Oct 2011 078
In the Hermitage there are many works of art, you have to look everywhere and it is true that you can never see everything. I have been twice now and am still amazed.
It was founded in 1764 by Catherine The Great. In her lifetime Catherine acquired 4,000 paintings from the old masters, 38,000 books, 10,000 engraved gems, 10,000 drawings, 16,000 coins and medals and a natural history collection filling two galleries.
Russian Society of the period wanted to be accepted as European which is why the collections showcase European art and art of Antiquity, Russian Art is barely included and certainly only added to the collections much later, which is a shame.

Medieval Scandinavian silver or is it contemporary?
So if you are in St.Petersburg this winter, do go and admire the beautiful Hermitage, but if you would like to see wonderful Russian art try the Museum of Russian Art in St.P, or the fabulous Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow (no photo’s allowed, which is a shame as the Art Deco chandeliers on the stairway are fabulous).
